metadin blend

Description

A large number of copolymers (also in combinations) and blends have been developed to modify certain properties such as heat resistance, rigidity, impact strength, chemical resistance and sensitivity to stress cracking and adaptation to specific requirements.

An important representative of the product class is SAN, from which ABS and ASA are produced by adding rubbers. These are processed into blends such as ABS + PC, ASA + PC and ABS + PA.

There are a large number of possible combinations, some of which are properties. More information is available on request.

ABS polymers have become particularly important because of the wide range of possible variations in their properties. Transparent plastics based on ABS with corresponding rubber components are available in contrast to opaque standard ABS.

Examples

With increasing PC content, ABS + PC-Blend shows an increasing dimensional stability under heat and has a stiffness and hardness comparable to PC.

With the ABS + PA blend, the disadvantageous properties of PA, such as shrinkage and insufficient cold impact strength, are reduced. The blend offers good toughness, processability, chemical resistance and, compared to ABS + PC, a lower density. ABS + PA blend is characterised by a very high heat resistance of 180° C to 200° C and can therefore be used for cathodic dip painting with subsequent drying at temperatures just over 200° C.
