DescriptionA large number of copolymers (also in combinations) and blends have been developed to modify certain properties such as heat deflection temperature, stiffness, impact strength, chemical resistance and stress cracking sensitivity and to adapt them to specific requirements. The overview below lists some copolymers, terpolymers and common blends. An important representative of this product class is SAN, from which ABS and ASA are produced by adding rubbers. These are further processed into blends such as ABS + PC, ASA + PC and ABS + PA.There is a large number of possible combinations, some of which are listed below. SB and ABS are preferred for the production of sheets for subsequent deep drawing. Standard PS produces mirror-like surfaces when vacuum metallized with aluminum. PS and its copolymers and blends are stabilized against degradation at high processing temperatures and against yellowing when exposed to UV radiation. There are easy-flowing, glossy, antistatic, antiblocking, internally and externally lubricated, colored or with organic pigments, and suitable for electroplating. Fillers and reinforcing materials are only used to a limited extent, especially for pure PS, as they have little effect on the appearance in terms of hardness, brittleness and stress cracking.chalk, talc and glass fibers/glass beads are more commonly used for ABS or its blends.Notes for users:The information given in the data sheets reflects our current level of knowledge.
